My mare’s issues seem to be related to the increase in hay at this time of the year. She’s always fine all summer and suffers from faecal water too which I don’t think is the cause, but rather a symptom (Shes been on Protexin Gut Sponge which has done nothing). She’s incredibly grumpy at the moment so I’ve just ordered Protexin Acid Ease which has worked before. @Barton Bounty, I had the same issue with Colligone. The liquid worked well, but not the powder.

I was fuming @meleeka actually! The tub was 3 kg so I felt I had to finish it but popping it in his dinner with no effect was peeing me off ?
The aloe juice is working though! I was so surprised ?

You may be onto something meleeka and why the change seems to only be during winter months! I don't have faecal water issues but I do have Sir Grumps a Lot to be touched in any way. Was fine when we got into later spring and over the summer....

I would be peed off about that too BB!!
With the coligone I had no issues at all about pulling his rugs over, girthing but it does work out a lot more expensive, like £20 ish a week given at the right dosage. I also find that after a while the supps dont work as well, so I use psyllium husk for 5 days clean out the tum

Can you get hold of finer hay? I've known quite a few whose guts never seem to adapt to rough hay.

A note - I swapped off the Equidgel back to Speedibeet which is pretty harmless (no starch, v low sugar) and he seems better, but not 100%.
He’s on the probiotics (gut plus & protexin) and Equishure, so hopefully he will improve in time.

I don’t want to start a debate but has anyone tried Equifeast?

What dose (ml) are you giving the aloe Vera at?
Under 450kg 90 ml loading dose and after two weeks if you feel you can drop to 50ml you can.
Over 450kg 100-120 ml loading dose. I have stayed at 100 ml for 3.5 weeks now, and I feel it is helping at that. Might drop it after 4 weeks slightly ?

I've just ordered the Ulc30ex from Ron Fields. I have read fab stuff about it and was going to give it a go before but things started to get better so ditched the idea. I know I shouldn't put too much weight into this, but there are some videos of some horses on Ron Fields' YT that behave exactly like mine. If the Ulcx30 doesn't work I will contact the company for some further advice.
I find preulc works better for mine, but if ulc30ex doesn't work definitely contact Ron as he's very helpful, and will point you in the right direction.

What is the dose for pre-ulc? Can't see anything on the website or factsheet and how is it fed? Can it be added to feed or does it have to be given before like sucralfate?

15g a day. Had to look at factsheet, as my packet is at yard. It says in 'how to feed' section
