Suspected strangles south Northumberland

...and it's my bl**dy horse. Wouldn't mind quite so much only it's practically a retirement livery and none of them go anywhere, ever.
Results back Monday hopefully, she has Cushings already so poor little mite isn't having much luck atm. Mind you she's putting in some good rears during her penicillin jabs.

I'm sorry to here that, we had strangles last year, and although my horses didn't get it, we were the lucky ones!

Is bywell near ovingham..? Just because some of my friends went there, and they better not give strangles around the yard

Bywell is indeed very close to Ovingham, just a couple of miles away. So sorry to hear about your poor mare. I'm just across the river.

Awwwww no, sorry to hear that. We are up Ponteland way, and there has been rather alot of it especially around Seaton Deleval and New Hartley. Thanks for the heads up, people at our yard are regularly out and about so its handy to know.

I so hope it does'nt make it's way over the river. I only up the hill from it! We had it really bad last time it did the rounds in our area(10 years ago) we nearly lost my friends shetland due to him nearly suffocating, his abcess was so big he had to have a tracheotomy, I so dont want to go there again! We all have new horses so no immunity from previous exposure(that we are aware of).
I hope your mare is ok, I know how awful strangles is to deal with.

Thanks, she did and was with us until a year ago when the Cushings took too much of a hold.

By the way we traced it to a new horse on the yard "rescued" from a sale by one of the new liveries. Fortunately I have them at home now.

the OP posted in 2009 so think it will be well clear by now , think i know what yard your on though and hope you are all holding up ok
i personally think the whole think has been blown way out of proportion , i can't believe the scare mungering, bitching and panicking thats going on and really think some people need to get a grip
