Hi Guys,
Been a while since i have posted on here but tonight i feel that i could just do with some advice ..
I bred my horse 8 years ago she is ISH quite a big mare on TB legs i always say. I love her dearly.
She has quite upright confirmation and because of this i haven't over done it with her. She has always been in light to medium work. Bit of riding club , few fun rides a year and dressage
I took her down to Sue Dyson this week in Newmarket as i have been concerned this last few weeks that she has gone a bit lame behind and feels short in front.
Anyway thats when the disaster happened.
She has been diagnosed as having server damage to both front suspensary's and her right hind suspensary, Along with a long list of other things creating foot pain. Changes in the coffin joint, bone spurs on the pedal bone, osteoarthritus of the fetlock joints etc. Im totally devastated but i don't want to give up on my mare just yet.
I presume the bony changes have been coming on for a long time and these haven't caused her to be terribly sore however i wondered what peoples experiences were with Suspensary injury...
My lameness work up has cost £3650 so far so my insurance will cover the next £1500 or so for my suspensary condition.
I have brought her home for now to rest her and im going to soeak with my vet on Monday to decide the best way forwards. I was hoping that anyone with any Suspensary ligament damage could give me any advise either way so i can get my head around things over the next few days before hand.
Thankyou in advance.
