My mare has just been diagnosed with severe high suspensory damage in both her hind legs. 2 months field rest and prognosis is walk hack only. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Did you change shoes? After some research people seem to suggest eggbar shoes. Also are there any supplements that support soft tissue damage.

Would love to hear your thoughts - thanks

Hi mine was diagnosed with this last summer had shockwave and field rest. I was suggested i put her in speical shoes there are specific shoes for hind suspensory problems but they are not available in uk. on talking to mine and another farrier its seems that natural balance performace hind shoes are much the same. they are wide at the toe and narrow branches. it is the toe you need to supprt as this the the attchment point for the suspensoies and studys have showned wedges and heel extra heel support actually put more strain on them rather than less?? No idea how much of little this has helpped as she has many other issues and has now damaged a tendon in another leg! so retirement it is!
If you goolge Denoix (something like that) they have done loads of studies on it.
