It may be nothing but we've had a couple of suspicious men hanging around our fields over the last week. Thurs I was hacking out and saw them. They did a quick about turn and jumped a fence when they saw me and after a mass hunt to find them we never did. Then today they've turned up again. Couple of liveries and YO confronted them separately and they had no reason for being there but beginning to worry now. They seemed a bit rough and after being told to go stood around a bit longer and carried on taking photos! So far they haven't come up to the yard but the kids were sure they were taking photos.

Also got the water board doing a load of work at the mo so lots of large expensive machinery around so hoping they are thinking of nicking that and not horses.

I know there's nothing u can do if they have got bad intentions in mind but I feel so useless and paranoid! YO live on site but still worried.

Can you get a vehicle registration for them. If you can i would call you local police. We had a suspicious man looking at our horses and fortunatly got a number plate num and the police visited the address, and TOUCH WOOD we never saw him again x

see if YO can borrow a large black and tan doglet for a few days, nothing puts em off more!! and def report it as clearly suspicious behaviour and means police are forewarned, maybe can do a few drivebys to deter anything.

Keep a note of descriptions of people and times seen etc if you can, report to local police and up security if you can as well

OMG......where abouts in Brackley are you. I'm 2miles from the centre of Brackley. I'll let people know on our yard.

Well they seem to just appear without a vehicle. First day they were on their own, yesterday they had a Rottweiler and greyhound with them!

Lotty - We are at Turweston Hill Farm just outside Brackley. Whereabouts are u? YO is dealing with police and everything. We are all going down at different times now. I did a drive round late last night.

That's good. Chances are that they are either eyeing up the machinery or possibly trying to work out where tack is kept. It is - thankfully - rare for horses to be stolen, especially freezemarked ones. But if does happen of course, and like you I'd be worried if oiks like that had been seen hanging around our yard.

The most important think to consider is your horses. Don't delay and get them freezemarked on their shoulder and also microchipped so that if they are stolen they can be identified. (Micro-chipping is not enough). Everyone can read a freezemark.
Also take a photo of your horse from all four sides.
We have seen an increase in the number of horses stolen in the last 12 months.
