Need some advice please!!

Whats the riding and liveryyard situation like down near lLncing, Worthing way?


I might have the opportunity to move down there and work for the family business in the next few month (in Lancing) and will probably be living around Steyning, Bramber.

Lots of yards and competition venues quite close by.

It's much more "horsefied" then say further west of west sussex where I am.

And hacking is brilliant

Oh, just remember friend has her horse just outside Steyning I think

most of the country north of worthing is fab for riding out, there are a lot of livery yards around too also nice and close to Hickstead etc. I'm in Worthing so PM me if you need specific details. I don't know much of your situation so i'm not sure what you'd be looking for. steyning is a lovely place to live too.

I live in Lancing and keep mine near Patching, just the other side of Worthing (8 miles). I wouldn't personally keep my horse in any of the yards or fields directly in and around Lancing (not much to offer in my opinion), but there are some lovely yards in Steyning area if you plan to live there and a good one I have heard with a school in Sompting on the downs side of the A27 (up Lambleys Lane I think it is, off the A27 Sompting Bypass nr Sainsburys!).

Patching area where I keep mine there are quite a few yards and fantastic off road riding on the downs and woods. Although I do have to battle the bad traffic on the A27 along the top of Worthing every day.

If your main thing is hacking, than I would suggest making sure you look at yards on or near the downs. If you go further north of the downs, the riding isn't so good (country lanes used as rat runs and lack of bridleways in some places).

Loads of competition centres around too within easy access.

Thanks guys thats really helpful.

The family business is in Lancing and my relatives live in Steyning (Maudlyn Parkway side)so Id probably move nearby.

Ive already found my perfect house in Steyning, Ive just got to find the £285,000!!!

I know there is a yard near Maudlyn Parkway and one near the quarry but I do want to try and find something with lots of facilities and good hacking..

Tall order I know.
