If you were a client, livery, staff member or trained at Suzanne's in Harrow Weald please read on.
You will be aware that Suzanne's closed and the buildings are now neglected and in disrepair. There are plenty of pictures on FB ' Suzanne's Riding School Reunion'. Yesterday the following was posted. Please email your support ASAP! Thank you.

IMPORTANT NEWS - PLEASE CAN YOU ALL HELP - URGENTLY!

Harrow Council Planning Department are having a Meeting next week to discuss the fate of the whole area that we all knew as Suzanne's Riding School. It was bought by a property developer who has changed his mind and wants to sell it. Harrow Council and the neighbourhood do not want this beautiful area to be built on as it is a conservation area and of historical and natural beauty. The property is derelict now and the buildings are falling down but are Listed so cannot be knocked down. A lovely lady called Lucy Haile who is the Principal Conservation Officer at Harrow Council told me that IF she could prove that she had enough people that were interested in saving this site then they could compulsorily purchase the property from the owner and with a Grant from the Treasury it would be lovingly restored and brought back into use as an equestrian yard which Harrow Council would support.
So please please please everyone, would you please send a brief email to :- Lucy Haile, Principal Planning Officer, Harrow Council. email: Lucy.Haile@harrow.gov.uk as soon as you can or we will lose this important chance to save this site from the property developers... Please could you also just say here that you've done this so I can have some idea of how much support we can expect. This is the last chance we have to bring this site back to a riding school so please help.. Thanks so much...

I am most surprised that Harrow Council would consider using a CPO, and subsequently public money, to buy a Riding School - CPOs are usually only used for land needed for roads, major public developments etc not for fairly small and select sporting facilities.

I suspect it would never get off the ground as the possibilty of using Council/Government money to build back a riding school, when most of them are closing due to health and safety laws and the expenses of trying to comply with modern regulations, seems rather unlikely in these austere days.

I hope I am wrong and would be delighted to be so proven!

I learnt to ride there as a child and spent many years as a teenager as a helper in the junior school in return for riding lessons. I may have some photos of horses, ponies and the stables in general somewhere. Email sent. Hope it helps!
