I am trying to find my 4yr old a saddle and after being put of treeless saddles I got my saddler out to see what size he is and trace his back..... She suggested a saddle with a straighter flap. His old saddle was sitting to far over his shoulder.... so she suggested dressage but as I don’t do dressage I do hacking and a few small jumps she suggested a showing or working hunter saddle ...so after rooting around on eBay I came across Swaine Adeney Brigg Show saddle for £150 and i was wondering if anyone knew more about it as Google did not say much
Thanks in advance

p.s does anyone know its full price?

THANKS

google doesnt say much so i was wondering what the quality it was ??
I couldnt find another one on the internet ...... does anyone own one ??? are they comfey for horse and rrider???:D

Do you have a link? It will be great quality but NOT at alll how we fit these days I suspect - the rear channel, the space between the panels, will be very narrow if it is as old as I suspect and I suspect the rear panel will be very shallow and the overall fit very curvy.

There are plenty of show saddles around - what breed/shape is your horse? If you search in saddles on ebay you'll see a lovely one of ours, a 17.5" Glen working hunter saddle.

Any saddle that doesn't fit the horse will cause trouble, it's just that even if it looks like the right width, front to back balance and all the million little things that lead to a saddle fitting or not fitting, the rear gullet will almost certainly be so narrow as to mean your weight will sit on his spinous processes ie his spine. The gullet should be wide enough to set the panel wider than the spine, so the riders weight is on the muscle either side.

Do you have a link to the saddle so I can have a look? And perhaps a photo of the horse if you'd like an idea as to whether it MIGHT fit...

hi thanks sbloom i am getting my saddler to take a look i was just wonderig whether it is made in a way that is differant than normal saddle and will cause trouble???

Yes, older saddles "fit" in the way I have said, and a SAB saddle will be old. It would be really helpful to be able to see the saddle. I would also recommend you show a picture of the saddle to the saddle fitter before committing to buy - there are SO many showing saddles on ebay, and I can't find this one at all, so I wonder what the fitter has said that led you to this particular saddle?
