Hi,

I have just bought a swales pelham for my Small Hunter as he is not happy in a double bridle and is very strong. It has just come though the post but I am really confused as to how to fit it! I know that the cheeks attach to the inner rings but cant see how the curb could site behind the rings. There dosent seem room. It looks as if it would almost have to go though the rings?

Does anyone use one of these bits that would be able to give me some advise? Or even better, has anyone got a photo of one fitted?

Thanks

I'd recommend that you ask someone who knows what they're looking at to come and fit it specifically to your horse. They can be really severe bits and you need to get it right so perhaps ask an instructor? If you're not sure I think it might be wise to have a go in an ordinary pelham rather than a Swales.

Not the most helpful response I'm afraid but good luck with the showing!
