Up to now, I've been using Verdo with shavings on top.

After seeing so many recommendations on here, I've juist swapped to White Horse PP Pellets.

I'm wanting to get rid of the shavings as they cause extra work and expense. I've got a good layer of wood pellets underneath, pretty much deep litter.

In this situatiuon, would you dig the whole lot out, or carry on with a semi deep littering approach, leave the lower layer of Verdo (which is quite brown now!) and top up with the new Platinum Plus?

Honestly, PP just arent comparable to Verdo! Verdo was always dark and a bit damp and I used loads! PP starts off white and fluffy and only compacts and darkens a bit. The real kicker is PP works out cheaper than Verdo anyway!

I would be tempted to leave the base down and top up with new pellets. I would dig out any squelchy bits. Could you throw the shavings up as banks to avoid extra trips to the muck heap?

I ended up digging out a complete bed yesterday. When I dug down, I found a lot of shavings had worked their way down, so I got rid of the lot. Hard work but satisfying. But oh my poor back!!

Will do the other bed next weekend.
Must say the PP pellets are a lot whiter than Verdo. So far so good!

Good luck with your new pellets, I'm sure you will be impressed after using Verdo.

I am... lovely fluffy white bed this morning (it had continued to fluff up overnight). Pony has been in today, and a quick skip out and it's all still white and fluffy.
I have found it absorbs more water than Verdo - had to use the watering can again this morning.
And it smells nice!
