Keep threatening that we're all gonna swap for lessons (there's four or five of us that get lessons on the yard with the same RI). Funny, no one wants MY horse!
Never seen or heard of it done but i don't see why it couldn't be?? If two people REALLY liked each other's horses and the others horse was more suitable for them then i don't really see what the problem would be really. I'd maybe get some sort of contract signed up though!
I knew two people that did swap. One was a quiet 15hh cob and the other a 162hh TBx, that was a bit of a handful but quite talented. They did a straight swap, and kept the horses on the same yard. It worked out perfectly. Still both have the horses as far as Im aware and that was a few years back now.
me and my friend swapped last yr, i had a sec c ctallion i wanted to sell as he was more of a show pony and she had a 3.5 yr old nfx for sale, we joked saying y dont we swap so we did, we were both asking the same price for the ponies she was to big to bring the 3.5 yr old on and i couldnt get much interest in selling the stallion, she sold him this yr and the now 4.5 yr is getting vetted tommrro prior to selling! so good outcome all round! wouldnt do it if cicumstances werent right tough!!
Yes i swapped a young welsh filly unbroken, for an arab gelding thet was broken, with a friend, i'v had nothing but hasle with him but that was not friends fault just circumstances, i love him and never regreted the swap.
