As my mare is on "rest" for a few weeks (read as dippy mare slid into fence and tweaked stifle whilst galloping like a loon in the field), i've been offered my friends mare to ride- youngster that she doesn't want to sit on :) and that needs a confident rider on to ignore baby moments.

In turn I've offered out my mare (once fixed) to a fellow HHO'er to get some SJ confidence.

Just wondered if anyone else offers swapsies?

PS could really do with an XC swapsie to get me over my fear of solid fences esp as I have this half brain idea of BE80 next year!
 
hmm. lent my boy to a friend to get some jumping confidence as she had lost her brave pants only to find she was telling the world she was schooling him for me because I was scared !
 
I had a HHOer on F the other week to get a feel for a moderately schooled horse. I also chucked her on Dae as it's good for him to be sat on by different folk. Dafthoss has also ridden all mine, Jesstickle's ridden J (and f?). It's open house here - anyone's welcome. Fergs isn't much to offer compared to your lovely girl, but you'd always be welcome if you fancied a ride!
 
I'll chuck anyone reasonably confident on Alf - hes got lots to give, and it would be selfish not to let other people have a go.
Swap him though? Never!
 
brucey boo always available to restore hacking confidence,he is such a lovely boy :)

id offer CS but he's useless for anything bar standing still, he literally will not move away from the mounting block for anyone other than me or NMT, will flick flick flick his tail and grind his teeth and look menacing, and will not actually entertain the idea of moving forward (and he isnt backwards about coming forward with saying get lost)!
 
I'd offer mine to restore any XC worries, she loves it! But, I'm always in the wrong part of the country and I'd get jealous watching others ride her!! ;)
 
I leant mine to a friend about a year ago for some lessons and he was a complete poo-head (for want of a better phrase) and scared her!!! Mortifying :redface3: There's a couple of very experienced riders that we have leant Pip and Baby to for hacking, but neither are totally straightforward and wouldn't lend them to anyone we didn't know and trust, and would be very hesitant to lend them for jumping/schooling/competing because one's a baby and one's weird. So yes, I am fairly precious about Pip, but it's for a good reason!!

We used to lend the oldie out to a friend's child for low level show jumping, but he was a very steady schoolmaster out jumping so there were no worries about bad behaviour. They got some rosettes together and he loved it. If he was still sound we probably would have found another child to do low level rc type things with him.
 
I have let my friend ride my WB to get a feel for dressage on a big striding, bouncy horse. Her horse was mainly used for jumping and XC and was a little bit of a pain in the school!

She really enjoyed riding him and he was well behaved, and it actually got her interested in dressage :)

I would never let anyone I didn't know/trust ride him. He's a big sensitive lad and I'd hate for him to take a step back in his schooling because of negligent rider; so I doubt I'd ever swap!

Haha, Geoff gets upset AND flicks people off... he's so temperamental. And once he's unsettled that's it, getting him back is a nightmare! I'm not allowed to join in when we do swapsies at Pony Club :( But if you're ever in Scotland and fancy a go just let me know! ;)
 
I did with a friend years ago. He did dressage and didn't like hacking. I'm the other way. So he had my horse for a week and taught him all manner of things and I hacked out his horse. It was fun :)

CS is too cocky to be upset, he knows it all dontcha know......................

i love the fact he's called Geoff too!

Sniggers! There's a reason that I specified reasonably confident... It's not because he's awesome - its because he has been known to take off broncing when people get on. If you pull his head up and tell him not to be an idiot, he stops, but if you don't - splattage!

That is Geoff's party piece! Not when you get on, but if something distracting happens and you're not quick enough to get his focus on what he's doing... he can buck like you wouldn't believe. You pull him up, give him a good canter and get him concentrating (right angle turns seem to be doing the job at the moment for that) and he settles, but allow him to get over-excited/upset/distracted and the mood takes him he can be a rodeo horse...

Mostly he's good though.... honest!! He is very good to hack.... just doesn't like to concentrate on work if he doesn't have to, and finds new places and people very exciting...

He does it slowly and with great dignity -anyone reasonably competent would stay on! I fell off him once, but that was because I tried to ride him bareback in a headcollar - and he told me to get stuffed!
 
I will let anyone, almost anyone, ride my mare. If you are decent, she is a nice little dressage horse. If you are useless, she just won't go faster than walk and she'll follow me around the arena.

The only person I ever refused to let ride he was an ex, who I worried might be a weight issue and mostly a useless issue, one he would jerk her around and be a d ** ck to her as a response to his own incompetence (he never sat on her, but his manner around horses on the ground on his occasional visit to the yard suggested that this could be likely). I don't mind people sitting on her who can't ride, so long as they are mostly harmless.

What makes you think I'm remotely competent :eek3: To be honest, I'd be happy to pat him on the nose and not have to deal with the vertigo ;)
 
I would live to Lend my boy to someone, he is a little bay tb with a big trot and a small brain! He likes bouncing and poncing and that's about it!

My other boy gets borrowed all the time but no one asks a second time?!!

And my super cob us ridden by whoever and they all love him! Even boyfriend rides him :)
