Will anything help a horse that sweats when travelling other than doing it in lots?

Horse question loads straightaway and travels so quietly you wouldn't know he was in there. He also unloads beautifully at far end, just very sweaty.

hi just to let you know you are not alone. i took my horse schooling at an indoor school and when he arrived he looked like he had done 10 rounds with mike tyson :D:D
when we went to our last show i put a tail bandage on and travel boots but left him naked and he was grand no sweat at all.

welcome to tips thou :)

My horse tends to be a sweaty traveller. He always seems to travel well & isn't stressed, I think he just gets too hot,so I always keep rugs light, even when the weathers cold I have to stop myself from layering him up too much.

you are definatly not alone my last mare used to sweat up as soon as the lorry started up next to her stable whether she was going out in it or not!! id arrive at a comp or a lesson or the vets and she would be head to foot in sweat, people used to joke and say id already been round xc when i was just warming up. she used to run up the ramp (usually before partitions were even opened!) whether she was leaving or coming home she was just a complete stress head never got any better no matter how many times she went out, i gave up with rugs she used to go through like 4 in one day so she just travelled naked!

i know this doesnt help but at least ur not alone!! :)

One mare of mine loads and travels perfectly but is dripping sweat by the time she gets off; literally you could catch a bucket of sweat off her tummy, nose, eyes the lot. Never seems to affect her and she dries off quickly but the box is like a sauna every time.

My mare was the same, in both a trailer and a box. Slightly less so with a companion but still dripping to the point of sweat rugging her when we got anywhere. I just put it down to stress as naked or rugged she still sweated and in both a box and trailer. She loaded fine and traveled quietly (for the most part bar fratching with the horse nextdoor in a trailer) so I think the only thing you can do is do it more untill he is comfortable
