Ive got a lovely young cob, she means the world to me and i think we make a good team. She has been stabled all winter and loves it. She is pregnant and due in may so cant ride her after the end of this month

Anyway, the last few days, ive noticed that she is sweating up really badly in the stable, she is losing her winter coat, but when i go into her stable in the morning her neck and belly are covered in sweat.

She does not wear a rug and the stables are well ventilated. There is nothing around to cause her any concern. The vet suggested that i put her out overnight in the field minus a rug, which i did last night, but i was worried sick about her all night as shes out alone.

Has anyone ever experienced this with any cobs before? Will her being out minus a rug and by herself, do any harm? I cant put any horse out with her as her hormones are playing up and she tries to attack other horses now.

I would be hugely concerned if this were my horse. Whilst it's been mild, there is no reason for an unrugged native to be sweating as you describe.

Did your vet come up and examine her?? Are you sure she hasn't aborted?

I have been talking to the vet, i have huge faith in him as hes never ever let me down, i know the whole yard use him.

The temperature here at night has been around 8 degrees, the stables are inside a huge shed and there are around 12 horses in the shed.

The other clipped horses have been warming up a little too, but she isnt clipped and she is very very hairy. He suggested that i could clip her neck, which would keep her cool.

Shes definitely not aborted as i seen the foal kick yesterday.

My husband says im just a worrier, the littlest thing and im on the phone to the vet for advise lol

Going to call the vet later on and get him out.

Rang the YO this morning who went to check on her, he said that she wasnt sweating.

I know what your saying - better safe than sorry
