Can anyone help me with a sugestion as to what I can do so that my arthritic mare can still wear these boots all the time as they are having an advantageous effect but when I went to change them around this morning found a rub on one of her legs. Her legs are always sweaty of course when I change them around and I always dry them off but what can I do to prevent this rubbing? Thanks all!

How about using powdered chalk/non allergenic talc and rub on to her legs prior to application of boots. My horse has his boots on over night from about 7pm - 9am and they have never rubbed him but I do swap them between legs every time. Last night he had them on his front legs so tonight he will have them on his back legs. This way the legs get a breather for 24 - 36 hours (too tired to work this timescale out properly).

Im pretty sure that its recommended NOT to use these boots all the time. I think the only way to stop the sweaty legs is to limit the amount of time they are on for as per the makers instructions.

As with anything that makes sweat in a warm and airless situation you are risking skin infection.

My mare wore her Bioflow boots 12hrs in front and 12hrs behind. Because I wanted to be sure that there was no rubbing when hot I put a piece of gamage round her leg then put the boot on. She wore the boots for about year with the gamage and I had no problems what so ever!

Good Luck!

I know that they don't recommend wearing them for more than 12 hours in any 24 but my horse and the one before him and the one before him have worn them every day for the past 8 years without a problem so I think its safe to say its safe!!

They are definitely recommended not to be worn 24/7. My horse has the wraps on his hind legs over nigh every night. Never sweats and never rubs.

Many thanks to all - for the last 5 days I've been swapping them around every 12 hours and using wraps and they are now fine!
