I had my 6yr old hairy cob in the stable for half an hour at lunchtime today and when I went to get him he was sweating on his chest and belly. Is this a cause for concern or is it just too mild at the moment? His stable is very open with a huge arched open doorway and also a big open window so the temperature is not greatly different from outside, its just sheltered. Thanks in advance

When we had our little Shetland, he used to sweat in the stable too, even if the wind was blowing! It will get cold soon, its been 20 degrees in some places, don't worry, I presume he has no other symptoms? ie he's sound?

The weather has been very mild of late and a few of ours are sweaty with no other symptoms. Weather is set to turn a wee bit cooler soon. Is it possible he may have also got himself a little worked up over something? Being in alone or a strange noise? If there's no other symptoms I wouldn't be overly concerned.

I wouldn't be concerned. It's still so mild for the time of year. If the sweating is really drastic to the point where he was uncomfortable, I'd give him a clip that is appropriate to his workload and lifestyle, EG: Whether he lives in or out and whether you want to rug him etc.

Echo the others in that is has been extremely mild for the time of year to date. Today however, the temp where I am was a cool 5 degrees at 8am this morning and a very fresh, bright day....it's been 13 - 15 degrees until this morning, so the weather pattern is changing now!
