Swedes?

Okay, probably the most bizarre/numpty question ever, but do I need to cook swedes before feeding? I'd like to string one up for my ned, but suddenly panicked that it might need to be cooked like potatoes do? Sorry for the odd question, but better to be safe than sorry and all that xx

No - they're fine to be fed raw

No just put a hole through it & tie it up - ours loves them on a string but won't eat them off the floor, strange boy !!

No just give them as is, they are great boredom busters as the neds have to chase them round to eat them

Put a hole through it and tie it with string from the rafters of the stable and "hey presto" hours of fun!! My boy loves them

Nope, mine has a big one every Sunday (swede Sunday ), I just throw it on the ground for him. He loves them and good for fatties xxx

Feed raw I usually hang mine and they take forever to eat.

no cooking - They are kinddd of like big round carrots.

My horse can eat a whole big one in about 2mins flat!!! (she grabs it and ripps of massive chunks till it falls off the string then 'inhales' the rest!)

My big boy got sick of swedes after being on box rest a while ago. He'd literally eat one a day off the floor in about 30 minutes, including chasing time! He'd always eat them raw. Now if I produce one he turns his nose up at it .....

My boy loves his swede but they just don't last him very long. He's found the knack of getting it off the string

Haha thank you everyone! I really must have paranoid mummy syndrome Just suddenly thought of it when I went to the stables to give it to him! Didn't THINK you had to cook them, but then thought if they were similar to potatoes you probably might need to, but it appears not Thank you for putting my worries to rest! xx
