*shines halo*

How was your day mate?
a030.gif

I just did a lot of little things to get him to use his back end and get his hocks underneath him
smile.gif
Best things were half 10 m circles or serpentines or cantering 15 m circles etc. Also trot serpentines in each corner of the school
grin.gif
Really gets them to use their back end properly and not to just fall in around the corners and follow the track. Have to say it scared me first time around, Darcy thought I suddenly had ambitious plans of jumping out

Slinky and SV My day has been work work work

I will be telling them he has to be kept seperate, I don't want him coming home with an injury.
Have printed off a copy of loan agreement and will be chopping and changing some word to suit us.

O'eck I'll try to explain

You can do them in walk/ trot/ canter and basically you just ride into the corner of the school, and as your approaching on the long side, you keep your inside leg on and open your inside rein very slightly - keeping them out. Then , all be it theres only half a stride probably from the track to the very very corner of the school, you turn them with your outside leg/ outside rein so they have to almost do a turn on the forehand , but when moving.
EEP! I'm awful at explanations. You can do them in the middle of the school aswell making rectangles/ squares etc

It sounds easier than it is

I'm hoping to go to Olympia this year
grin.gif
It'll be my first time
smile.gif

I see what you are sayong - I know exactly what you mean! So i'm back on the same page!

I went to HOYS last year and it was fabulous!

Two show that I really enjoyed and didn't expect too was both Hickstead and Royal Windsor
smile.gif
The Royal Windsor has EVERYTHING and you can always get a good seat!

ETS I can't count!

Olympia is fab
a090.gif
!! Really Christmassy
n030.gif
- always gets a bit chaotic in the finale though with horse's going mental all round the ring!!

HOYS is great too - and Your Horse has some fabulous demonstrations so really learn stuff and come away inspired - as well as broke as there is loads of shopping and it is all horsey!!
g030.gif

S_V - I'm with you - I thought Wendy should have won.....
a030.gif

DL - not too late at all you can get tickets on the door - just cheaper if you book ahead. I have been most years for the last 8 or 9 - it is totally different as its not a competition - just lots of demonstrations - so you can learn loads. Last year was Carl Hester, Mary King and Geoff Billington - they do 2 demos each - the first is usually on youngsters and the 2nd on one of their top horses - Mary was on the lovely King Solomon who later died at the express eventing - it was one of his last runs out and looked awesome. I've also seen Peter Storr, William Fox Pitt, Tim Stockdale - can't remember the others but you get the idea. They aim to give you ideas for trianing your horses at home so really good - and you are close to the horses so can really see what they are doing.

I just checked the website , the dates this year are on my brothers birthday
grin.gif
I'm sure he won't mind if I vanish
shocked.gif
Its a good 2-3 hours away - but oh well , could be a nice few days away
smile.gif

I just looked and this year its Ollie Townend, Tim Stockdale and Andrew Gould doing the main demonstrations. Worth going just to see Tim Stockdale - he is fab!!
a090.gif

I'll definately be going to Your Horse - its a good day out.

Might go for Olympia again this year as I think I maybe away for HOYS or its just after I'm back.....*tootles off to check dates*

Slinks was it not Call Again Cavalier that died?

[/ QUOTE ]

You are right - I thought it was wrong as I typed it - but couldn't think why. He was such a lovely horse and he was going so well that day - just bouncing around the arena and then a few weeks later was gone.

Aw boo, if it had been Sat and SUn I could have tried to drive down for a Sweet FA event bit it is Fri and Sat so that just wouldn't happen
