Sweet FA.....Friday!!!

his head is bobbing abit, but when i watch legs doesnt seem to be striding short.

he kept stopping to eat grass lil monkey.

when i let him go again he galloped off to others.

i will try to get better video but when its not raining. so any thoughts?

Well fwiw I don't think he is moving to badly - he is tracking up ok but his stride does look a bit short sometimes but that could just be a bit of stiffness because of his age and the fact that he is not worked much at the moment. If its any help my mare looks like that when she starts lunging - its called avoidance!! The oldie here (now 35+) was bought as a 15 year old and did advanced dressage until his mid 20's - they need to be kept in regular work to stop them stiffening up, so I think in a home where they got him back in regular work it would ease up - of course a vetting may show something.... But bear in mind I know nothing.....

I would ask your farrier what he thinks next time he is out - they can 'feel' stiffness in the joints

Other than that I think he is sooooooooooo cute - can you stick a stamp on his bum and send him to me??

Remind me - what has he done in the past?

right nipping to the PO be right back.

he has done abit of everything hunting, sj, xc hacking mostly with us, i think but not 100% sure he was a huntmans horse before we had him.

yeah i think he done alot before we got him, but hes only been ridden about 3/4 times a week since we,ve had him, and now about 1 a week if hes lucky.

i might start to do abit of lunging once/twice a week muscle him up abit more.

do u think they were abit quick to judge then?

Well, if I was to say he looked lame, it would be on his left fore BUT how long does he normally need to warm?

I wouldn't worry about what they say. If I was going to travel for more than 1 hr to see a horse, I would speak to owner on the phone first for loads of info AND ask for pictures and videos to be emailed to me if possible, before actually making the journey. But then thats me

well i dont exercise him alot, im not normally the one riding, plus we usually go for a hack which is mostly walk. but i think i will try doing some lunging couple times a week, see if he gets worse or better etc. i will try and post another video later in week.

As well as lunging I would try and get on him and ride him for half an hour or so doing some schooling - that way you will get him using his muscles more and may be able to feel if he is lame especially when you are doing transitions. Will hold himself and use his muscles very differently from whne hacking - especially as he is mainly walking on hacks. Could just be a bit lazy as he is used to tootling along as opposed to working......

Idlp - had a very quick look at the video. Is the field level where you were lunging? He doesn't look lame to me, just unlevel! Does that make sense? More stiff than anything else, but it's a bit hard to tell.

He's very cute though!! Bless!!!

He's a lot better than he was though, which is good news, but very funny, as he told my Mum " I won't be able to fly, you know" to which, she replied "Why? Were you thinking of going somewhere then!!!"

f_s - thought it was a bit early - they normally do heparin over 5 days and need observation time. Better that he is properly stabilised before he comes home though. Which hospital is he in? Walsgrave or Warwick?

Small glass of wine would be lovely
