Yep - if you put him on a tiny paddock and let him graze it and then you need to give him soaked hay so he still has the fibre going through his system to keep his gut moving. He will be satsified as he will feel full but will also be burning calories eating the hay which has little or no calories in it!! It works better than starving him as then all that happens is that he stuffs himself when he gets the chance!!
Inca is on an tiny paddock so she can stay out and walk around grazing the 3 or 4 blades of grass that appear but goes through at least 3 slices of hay a day as well as her Happy Hoof etc and has kept all her weight off and the laminitis at bay too! Who knew a cob had ribs......
I'm tired cos Samstar has been working me too hard!!
She'll probably come on later and mutter something about me only having to work 3 hrs a week and she has to do loads more blah, blah, blah but don't take any notice.....she's just a moaning minnie!!! I really don't know what her problem is...lol.
Then had to go and meet the vet for Benji's flu/tet and now I'm sat on the sofa with my coffee before going out to poo pick the ponies paddock....again.
Right I'm off for my lesson now - see you when I'm back!! Will probably need oxygen and a lie down - she nearly killed me the last time aI had a lesson with her - the slave driver.....
The jump instructor that I want to use is a tough lady (nice, but scary, and I don't scare easily!). We have a deal, I'm going to have a lesson alongside Friend's eleven year old daughter; and my daughter is going to have a lesson alongside Friend
I - hope your ned stays put behind fencing, turns out LL is an escape artist (to add to his list lol).

but what you forgot to say was the time standing around and drinking coffee, ooo andddddddddddd the sausage and bacon roll, included in the 3 hours work
!! Lesson was fab!! I rode my fav horse there - a huge 17hh hunter called Shorty
!! He is another big grey lump but sooooooooooooadorable!! Anyway lesson was v good as well as being hard work - though not as hard as it used to be but I guess I have riding the big grey lump to thank for that
!! Anyhoo we started to get my canter sorted - no surprise to find its me getting it wrong and confusing the poor ned with my crap aids
!! Homework........
hp - she sounds like a slave driver
- I mean including a sausage and bacon sandwich and coffee in your 3 hours....
MrsM - your lesson sounds like just what you need!!

Bl**dy horses....well, sh*tland pony and co!!! The three big ones have been great no trouble at all, but the mini and his side kick have been pains in the
I bring them in, put them on the yard, give them a tiny wee piece of grass at the back of the stables (old grass), access back to yard and nice warm stable...do they want it..do they h*ll!!!!!
Only, and I mean only, if I stand with them when they're grazing!!! Otherwise, charge of the light brigade with sh*tland in the lead, back to the yard!!!
I have better things to do than stand at the back of the stables all day!!!!!!
Anyway, glad you had a good lesson Slinky, I'm sure you've got the correct aids, Nixon, is just pretending he doesn't understand!!!
Well I was talking to a couple of the grooms there who remember him - one said 'Good luck - i used to ride him and he is bloody hard work' - used to jump him up to 1m
! and was surprised when I said he got excited when he went jumping!! The other groom asked me if he was enjoying his retirement!! I said he maybe retarded but he is not retired
Am just going to pop out and give the coblet her soaked hay for the night - don't know why I bother soaking it at the moment - if I had timed it right I could have just put it in the field and it would have done it for me.......
Off for a Thai meal with my dad tonight - v exciting
!! apart from listening to my dad telling me about how they lost at golf yeaterday.........
