I've got the opposite prob - our grass is just not growing at all which is why I have had to rent part of a field from the farmer across the road - mine have been getting quite a bit of hay anyway in the whole get Ali some more pounds on quest!
Thats the problem this year though - to much bloody grass!!
We needed a heatwave for about 2 months to let the grass stop growing and go to seed - little Jess is back on box rest as she went pottery again......Grrrrr!!
Sea_View are you feeding a balancer to Ali? Just thought, that maybe that would help. Mind you, pink powder does more or less the same job, so just ignore me, I'm rambling!!! ...Nothing unusual there then!!
Little Jess is fine - farrier has been and trimmed her toenails and is now cofined to the Pony Palace for a couple of weeks to give her time to heal and detox properly. Its a nightmare because of all this rain - the ponies are on the smallest paddock they have ever been on and we reduced all their grazing earlier this year than ever before. I dare not increase Incas by even a blade and even the BGL doesn't need his extended!! I keep telling myself that its good as it means there will be plenty of grass in the rested bits to get them through the winter!!
Lol f_s - I'm going to see how the increased senior chaff, extra field and big dinners make a difference befre I add anything more into the mixing pot - if PC on Wed was anything to go by I might need to rein him in a bit lol!!!
I'm telling myself the same thing, but just keep thinking that because of all the rain, when they do go on the winter paddocks it'll be a mud bath!
Mind you, this year I'm thinking of bringing them in overnight!! I know, you'll think I'm cruel, but the ponies really enjoy being out, rugged up well, and with lots to eat.
This year I think they can come in with the big ones, even if it's only in the school, otherwise the ground will be wrecked!!
i have had such a shitty week so just been hovering around. to top it if my best friend has beeen quite poorly and been supporting her. anyway she had surgery today and it turns out she has ovarian cancer so has had to have a full hysterectomy. she is only 36 i can't stop crying a feel so numb and empty. can you guys gib=ve her some vibes and thanks for listening as can't talk to anyone so thought i would type
You see we are so lucky here - there is so much land it never gets really wrecked - only round the gateways - and the ponies have the pony palace - it is a huge field shelter that used to house 2 shire/Clydies - so there is room for a mini shitland, a Sec A and a Sec B with room to spare!! They are funny as we have a middle partition in it for house arrest purposes and Little Jess's bedroom is the one on the right and the left is Grinny and Izzy No Legs!! They go in their own out of choice all the time!!
Tikino - I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, what an awful thing to happen to someone so young!
She's got you, a good friend, to help her through, but you need support too. I hope that she gets better and that they can give her a great outcome. Lots of ((((vibes)))) for her and a big (((hug))) to you too!
Oh dear Tikino - I am really sorry to hear this!!! I would be devestated too, well done you for being such a supportive friend - and by all means come on here for some vibes and a let it all out - huge huge hugs and vibes for your friend!
thanks guys me head is just a muddle. i spent the day going to get shaving and hay etc for her horses as didn't now what else to do. i had a bad feeling about this as she hasn't been great with fluid in her lungs, exended abdoman etc. also she has ibs and endomitriosis. she has just had 2 cycles of ivf fails so any slight chance of having a child has gone. why is life so cruel and why is it always her. i know it is life as i work with sick people all the time but it it so different when it is close to you. be is my best friend and my soul mate. there is never a day goes by that we don't talk. i couldn't imagine live without her
Tikino - stay strong - she will need your strength especially with the whole IVF thing not working and now this. My aunt went through the same situation, she is very special to all of us 'kids' the best aunt anyone could wish for - I know this won't replace having her own kids but your friend will get there slowly but surely with lots of support from those around her.
I'm sure it is devastating news for both of you - but it is early days - the fact she has been having IVF probably means they have found it quicker than may have otherwise been the case which can only work in her favour. Whilst not having kids maybe devastating to her right now her own health and getting better needs to be her focus in the short term - there are options to look at when she is better.
Yes Tikino, stay strong, for her sake. Although it will take a lot out of you as well. It's very sad, and grossly unfair, but these things do happen. Just very sad that it has happened to someone who appears to deserve it the least.
I'm sure you head is a muddle, and you must feel quite numb too. Make sure you keep talking too, as well as listening to her. Please tell her that she means the world to you, I think that's very important, and helps to give her the strength to get through.
Finally, please don't give up hope. Where there's life there's hope, is a very true saying. Again (((hugs))) hun x
Def give yourself time to get your head round it - maybe researching a wee bit on the net might help if you are a facts kinda person or chatting about it with us if you are more a talk it through kinda person ?
