If he and Sweep are ok together he will be staying and as soon as the rescue people have gone we will be off for a walk together

awww wow that sounds lovely! i hope they get on with each other. im in rubbish work already and all i can think about is horses lol!

went for a lovely hack yesterday and my loan horse really behaved himself which was fab!

new doggy! how exciting!

i am also 'working' from home for the day, whilst on 'bed rest'... so far i've cleaned the chickens out, moved the baby chicks in with the adults, fed all the animals, done a load of washing, cursed my husband for finishing the milk, cleaned Barney's wee off the floor after he decided to tip his potty over, cleaned up the bag of flour dropped on the kitchen floor whilst i grabbed the teatowel, fed the kids... i'm now waiting for my toast to pop up in the toaster so i can munch on that before hoovering the stupid house whilst Barney (2yrs) causes immense destruction behind me....

house work + small children = disaster

perhaps i'll see if he fits in the cupboard under the stairs... ?

Well Max has arrived and has been given the seal of approval by Sweep and Spot (the sheepdog!) He has been for his first walk with them and learnt his first lesson about living on a farm - if you stick your nose on electric fencing it makes you squeak!!! Was having fun chasing pheasants though......

Hey all I'm back soz bout being missing in action but had JumpX league straight after school yesterday and when I got home you had all gone to bed!!! We were 2nd last night so we were 5th in the league overall which I'm super pleased with especially as we had missed a month!!!

Max is very cute - thankies!! I passed out asleep at my feet - he has had three walks to day and met lots of new people and dogs and been a very good boy!!!

Hey, kids are in on Monday it was in-service today and yesterday. Just getting the class ready - the other teachers are lovely so far so fingers crossed that it stays that way!

Its an open plan school so its quite random but hopefully I will settle into it quickly!!!

I'm going to the local feed merchants tomorrow morning as they have a sale on and with the current climate - sounds good to me! Tomorrow arvo is a wee hack with Ali and Paddy - Braes hopefully if it is still nto peeing down.

Sunday - helping at RC dressage in the morning and nowt in the afternoon.

I'm investing in a lycra- full body suit for D this year. I've got my first prelim on the 6th, and its really, really not looking good

He used to be 100% , but I'm doing something I'm not aware of !
He can do canter serpentines and changes the rein across the school etc with 1 or 2 trot sides in between and he'll get it every time - but a 20m circle ??

Noooo . Damn!
 
Have you tried lifting your inside hand with outside leg back - or opening inside arm - or sitting and asking on what would have been a sit stride?
 
My usual drill is I'll half-halt him with my outside rein to prepare him for a "change," and attempt to get him to listen

Cool - also, know its a bit random too as I'm sure you are but mak sure he is actually looking the right way too - I though Padster was until I was in the school with the mirror and mr sneak was tipping his head ever so slightly which was allowing him to look more to the wall - monkey!
 
On our right-rein we have trouble with him overbending to the outside and falling out through his shoulder so I think I need more outside leg then.

The dressages school has mirrors in it, is it too late to check then?

But he is pretty good with bending etc 98% of the time.

Sigh! To think I used to want to do a Prelim because I didnt really have to worry about the right canter lead. Now i'm stuffed!!

I might pop him on the lunge to have a look at what's going on without me too
 
Sounds like u need some outside leg. POssibly an idea for lunge the canter see what he is doing - prob u are thinking too much about it and that's what's happening - I find that cause Pads and I are trying to sort our canter that it is poop until I stop over thinking about it - if that makes sense!
 
Tell me about it! My plan was to until next year but the series that I desperatley want to do all through Winter doesn't have any
