Well its a bit late in the day, everyone must be to to busy, so I'll start it now
grin.gif

All I can write is, I'm working til 9pm so nothing really interesting

F_S how did your day at work go?
smile.gif

I'm still in bed
blush.gif

Trying to get up the oomph to go to the yard. Will bath the Dizzy one and dig out rugs and travel boots (hm, just had a panic as can't think where the boots are....). Might trim a tail and tickle her toes as well. It's a b*mmer that the farrier couldn't fit us in 'till Thursday coming - she's in desperate need and it's a bit off having her/sending her with feet like that
blush.gif
frown.gif
Ah well, cannot be helped, even farriers need a holiday I suppose
cool.gif
And before anyone even thinks of jumping on me, this appointment was booked at the last one and due to commitments and a holiday, this was the earliest we could get - it will have been eight weeks (we were aiming for five/six); she's unshod so at least I don't have loose shoes to deal with.

Daughter might ride one of hers. I sort of don't want to be there for long. Might just hide head in and sand and pretend life isn't happening.

On the plus side, had a lovely conversation with Dizzy's previous owner. We were looking at the Photoshop piccies. Was nice. Have also spoken to the lady we're hopefully going to buy a trailer from, luckily she isn't in a rush as the next week is going to be a bit distracting.

Right. A leg is doing its damndest to shake at the world, so will go and see what the world has to shake back.

Have fun y'all.

i'm being a lazy old cow. slumped on the sofa, listening to my poor husband mowing the lawn, trimming the hedges, sorting out the chickens, looking after the toddler...

god, now i feel guilty, so going to make him a coffee and dig out a biscuit for him. which, no doubt i'll eat on my way out into the garden and he'll be none the wiser...

Hey all - well it's been a mixed bag riding day - so HELP please - am feeling like a very bad rider/mummy!
frown.gif

Schooled Paddy today after watching my instructor riding her Advanced/Medium test on her superstar for tomorrows championships and immediately felt decidedly useless!
crazy.gif

Anyway, off Paddy and I started - lots of transitions, walk and trot, quite windy so Pads eyes on stalks but we worked in quite well, then he got spooked at the jump wings outside the school which are always there and that was it - he kept fleeing off my leg and I was having to rein him in and then he'd work a bit and do the same again so I felt as if I was constantly leg on, hoi back - yuck yuck.

So, as we have been working on our trot work, instructor wants me to practise canter transitions so we can move into working on our canter as she is pleased with our trot overall now. So should have read the signs and left canter for today, but didn't - wouldn't go off the leg without running off - had to bring back time and time again but I felt that seeing as I had decided to work on the canter I couldn't leave on a bad note, ended out flinging the reins at him as we were both getting more and more het up and walked about for five minutes just breathing. Then tried again more calmer and got a couple of good transitions on each rein and finished.

Paddy very sweaty, me very harrassed and feeling like the horriblest mum ever - I'm really worried he is now running away from my leg and heavy hands but he was like a tank today
frown.gif

Sorry guys just felt rotten tonday needed a vent - pink jammie donuts for all who read this
smile.gif

Yum - jammy donuts.......
c080.gif

S_V - its is just one of those days - as you say you should have know it wasn't the right day but the positive is that in the end you did get a couple of good transistions which is good and something to work on. I sometimes get 'stuck' on something and find the harder I try the worse it seems to get.

I would say next time stick doing something else and just go for a couple of transitions again without 'trying' - you will probably find they happen easily.

As for being a tank - come and sit on Inca - now there is a tank......
e025.gif

Thanks Slinks - I think I was getting all worried that I had been too heavy with my hands and legs and would have caused damage - not physical obviously but confusing him and I was getting all worked up and it was just getting awful!

Now, poor Inca, I'm sure she is very svelt!
smile.gif

No she is a coblet
grin.gif
!! and while now built like a racing snake
blush.gif
- she has ribs - who knew
wink.gif
??!! - has a neck of solid muscle which she uses to her advantage when it suits
mad.gif
..........hence my very short frustrating trip up and down the drive last week - I wanted her to go out and she didn't so we compromised on her flouncing up and down the drive.....

Evening All
smile.gif

SV , Agree with Slinks - Probably just one of those days
grin.gif
I know for one I can't do anything with Darcy in the wind , so schooling - if thats what you want to call what we do (!) - is SHOCKING. Darcy was a slightly nappy, very lazy oaf yesterday and I ended up getting so frustrated with myself I had to walk out!
mad.gif
Poor pony
grin.gif
So we're spending the next few days just poodling
smile.gif

Good evening everyone!!!

S_V - I agree, he is probably having one of those days!! They all have them now and again, but at least you ended on a good note!

Son rode his mare last week, who is huge and very powerful when she decides!!
shocked.gif
He had the same problem, so I told him to raise his hands every time she wanted to take hold, and push with his seat!!! It sounds weird, but if you take away the crutch of leaning on the bit, they have nothing to tank against, and pushing with legs and seat means they have to rely on this for direction/instruction!!!

It may not work with Paddy, as I obviously can't see what he's doing exactly, but you can't ruin a horse by riding from you legs and seat!!!

The look of shock on the big mare's face was something to behold!!!

Mrs M - hope you are all right. I'm sure Dizzy will be fine with her feet, a couple of weeks on an unshod horse won't ruin her!!
smile.gif
Fingers still crossed for you and Diz x

I'm back from trying to calm down

I've discovered that I can't STAND to be around certain people for long periods of time. I begin to fray...

That's all I'll say on the matter
grin.gif

Whats everyones plans for tomorrow? Has Ldlp111 been online today about her gang?

hi guys

the gang are ok, hectors leg has gone down alittle bit.

cleo is an attention seeker, keeps coming over to the gate and stomping until she gets some hay as well, even though there is plenty of grass!!

hows everyone?

Evening peeps!!
a010.gif

I'm back!! Went to my sisters after playing with neds for a kebab - yummy!!!
b040.gif

Inca had fun in duckpond as she managed to grab some huge mouthfuls of long grass while we were down there - its a gift that cobs possess - eating at every opportunity including when being spun round on the end of a lunge......
e020.gif

Also got the BGL worked into a sweaty heap - then gave him a bath
s020.gif
- so is almost grey again - and pulled his mane. Am going to wash his tail tomorrow as I want some nice piccy's of them to send to PapaFrita as I want her to do pictures of them for me.

Neice and I are going to try out a different ride tomorrow - its one of the routes on the toll ride that we haven't done but reckon it should take us at least 3 hours - so that'll be a nice bubble bath needed after that then......

Hee hee!!
d015.gif

Inca does that - but with a little more force
crazy.gif
.....when she was on box rest last year we had to take the door off its hinges to stop her flinging it about - and her 'bar' to stop her getting out is a piece of angle iron after she broke about 3 wooden bars - just walked through them - life with a coblet is never dull......
crazy.gif
wink.gif
grin.gif

i know hes a right monkey, so glad swelling seems to be easing, thats either the box rest or the hosing or mayb just time itself who knows.

Nope, not "thing" this time .
Even I'm in shock over that one
grin.gif

But in other news, the little project mare I helped with that was sold a little while ago, was going to be re-sold after 6 weeks annoyingly. Thankfully they've changed their mind and have just emailed me a really nice letter about her.

So, good mood's back :P

Glad the swelling is going down. I'd give him a few more days!! If he doesn't escape before then!!!

Life with a coblet is never boring!!!

Mine has to be turned out in a paddock 10ft X 10ft during the day, otherwise we wouldn't have any yard left!!!! This is the horse that went to the vets for some x- rays (nothing wrong Thank God!!!) and manged to turn on the air conditioning, take rugs off the door, and nearly break the vet's leg by leaving a brush sprawled over the floor, all in a highly equipped room!!!!

Hehe! My old loan cob recently moved yards and being that it is opposite the school I use, i always pop in so Darcy can get his treat, and I can say hello
grin.gif

Anywho, since she's moved he's got his lick-it fused to his foot, gone into the feed room twice (over wooden pallets and all!) and gobbled powder calmer, broken out of his field by just leaning on the gate and often unties himself and goes for a mooch about when no ones looking.

Sly old man
