I think the most embarassing thing Inca has done was when the YO hung a new 5 bar gate on the field she is in. inca was on the strip in front of the paddocks doing lawnmower duty and managed to bend the gate (it is metal) scratching her bum on it.......
The trouble with cobs is they just don't know their own strength!! Inca caught her headcollar on the stable door one day and lifted it clean off its hinges.....she stood there as calm as you like - but it took 3 people to lift the bloody door off her headcollar and re hang it!!!
Still can't help but love her - my friend sat her 4 month old baby on her today and we went for a little walk. Inca was as gentle as anything with her - was blowing on her and giving her gentle kisses with her nose - friends little girl was giggling away....
Night Mrs M, thoughts are with you and Dizzy tomorrow x
Slinky - They are such characters, so strong, but so gentle too!! Mine knows when there is a complete beginner on her, and won't budge, she's like a Blackpool donkey!! Put someone on her that knows what they're doing and she's totally different. She'll also always "test" the "knowledgeable" rider once. Just once, but it helps her make an assessment of the level of capability!!!
My daughter can't get on with her at all!!! I can understand why though, she's not her type of horse at all, and I think, it's because she knows she can wind her up!!!
Inca is exactly the same - tries it on and if you say no just sort of sighs and goes ok then.....
No one else at my yard will ride her as they are all scared they won't be able to stop her 'look at the size of her neck' is the usual comment - the fact that she does everything in a loose ring snaffle seems to escape them......
Admittedly we have had our moments but it lasted about a fortnight before she gave up and went for the easy option - typical cob!! She is however very forward - could never be described as a plod - and if she is in that sort of mood can outwalk anything else on the yard as she will power walk her way round a hack, can trot for hours without loosing speed and can keep up with a TB for about 50 yards in canter.....
There is a horse for sale in there that was at this yard and I would like to see the ad etc - only I don't know enough to find it quickly online but know enough to find it in the magazine.....just being nosey really!!
Hey all, just in frm evening out - thanks for all your supportive replies from earlier - had visions I'd wasted the Padster for life - think I will just have a hacking about day tomorrow!
