Thanks Mrs M. You know when you just need someone else to tell you that you're not being unreasonable, awkward or off your head? Well, I needed that, thankies!!!

Well I'm up early to ride my boy first - then going to get my girl in so I can ride her and my neice can - she is doing the work and trot test on her at the show next week. The kids are then practising for the show so my sister and I will be running around putting up jumps etc and reading tests for them.

After all of that - if it is nice and hot and sunny I will give mine a bath - the show is next sunday so prelim washes on the really grimy bits needed - we have 4 greys between us!!

Walk dogs etc and then sit in the garden and drink wine/Pimms until I fall over or asleep - which ever comes first.....

So, I'm thinking of taking an evening course, one night a week at the local college.

Anyone got any ideas on something I could do? Not too heavy but useful perhaps?

Sort of something I have to use a little brain power for (I think there's little bit left in there somewhere!!!) but nice.

Thinking along the lines of something arty, but not art as such.

How about something like upholstery?

I did it for a while - very therapeutic banging in tacks and you end up with a some nice bits of furniture in your house - I have one huuuuge footstool, 2 armchairs, 1 sofa, and a Lloyd Loom chair seat with a matching blanket box that I did.

Or floristry (always quite fancied that myself), aromatherapy, massage, cookery.....

I like that idea!! Don't think I'd do the cookery though....would look like the dog's dinner! In fact, the dog's dinner would look better!!!

I think I'm going to look at the aromatherapy, I really like the sound of that. Do they teach you what the plants are for (healing wise) and not just how they smell?

Sorry to ask such a dumb question, but all my qualifications are academic!!

To be honest I have no idea - I quite fancy doing it myself at some time though. I'm sure they would talk through the different plants and their effects - you would have to know to get the right combinations/best effects. That and homeopathy really interest me as when you use stuff like that on animals it does work - and I use it on me!! Due to my work I have a healthy disregard for doctors and conventional medicine - all these things have their place.

This is beginning to sound really interesting. OH says I should do some sort of course that I'd enjoy. (when I went to school/uni etc it had to be academic, I wasn't trying to sound pompous!!)

I'd love to do something that could ease and help, it would be wonderful.
grin.gif

I'm off to see if they do a course now....back in a min!!!

It was the same with me
crazy.gif
- did the whole O/A level and Uni stuff - and still do brainy science stuff for work - but as I am a bit of a hippy I do lots of reading/research etc into natural remedies etc as I think anything that can benefit me, my animals etc is worth while - hence I bang on about aloe vera, arinica, Manuka honey etc etc.

The aromatherapy course I have looked at is a year long and doesn't start until September......

Slinky - I think a year long course would give you a good knowledge though. I've always been interested in alternative and natural treatments ( I must have hippy tendencies too!!!)
