samstar - I take it the pub was good then..........
S_V - yey
!! your back - we were only about you the other day wondering how your hols were
!! We need a full report later.....
Well I have been up and fed the neds - just having some brekkie then I'm off to take the big grey lump for a twirl round the fields and then its the coblets turn (I'm going to ignore her sulking
....) then the rest of the day is dog walking,
packing to go away with work, need to do some work
and then some 'pampering' type activities like colouring my hair to cover the grey
yaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy S_V you're back, hope you had a lovely hols.
Just got in from doing neds and am soaked, where the show is today there is no phone signal, pondering whether to stay indoors
Slinky it was lovely sitting on the beach last night with my mates supping my lager and watching a wish lantern floating above the calm waters. Going to have to do that more often.
Now sat here with my mug of coffee and fresh croissants from the bakery
Hey all right I have dragged my backside out of bed after a long drive home from Stansted last night.
So the holiday report - it's gonna be long but with a few snaps to break it up ... was fabulous, we had a great time, got a bit of a tan and totally chilled out. We started off at Venice, the ship was great, staff really falling over themselves to help you and drink and food was flowing.
Our first stop was Dubrovnik in Croatia, it was lovely, nice old city with lots of history about it.
Next was Mykanos a beautiful Greek Island, looks exactly how it does on postcards - lovely wee streets, lots of bars and very very hot. Lots of men too - pity they all bat for their own side tho!
After that was Kusadasi in Turkey - yuck, yuck and triple yuck - the minute I stepped off the ship the locals were all over you trying to get you to buy stuff, leering all over you, quick walk about and straight back on the ship - won't be returning!
Next possibly the one that has left the most impression both good and bad was Santorini (I am going to post about this in NL later) We arrived to see this huge cliff face:
(I hope this shows how steep it was the zig zag line is the path the donkeys had to take)
- three ways of getting up - cable car (q of over 2hrs), walk the 900+ steps or ride a donkey - naturally we walked - but the donkeys - hundreds and hundreds of them lined the cliff face in the blistering heat in no shade with ropes and ratchet straps as girths with sores, crippled legs and the saddest faces you have ever seen. They were hit and shouted at to take over weight, oversized ignorant tourist up and down the cliff ALL DAY - I was devestated - they looked awful. One wee donkey which was being dragged along in a group got caught up with a tourist walking and trampled her, the donkey had nowhere to go as it was getting dragged, the lady was screaming, I was trying to help the donkey off her whilst help her up and all the man did was scream and hit it - I was hysterical, I screamed at him and the donkey was so worried - the poor thing was very very old and lugging a huge fat tourist up the hill. The men then 'ya'd' the donkeys back down the rocky path to get yet more and more tourists, they were sliding everywhere. On the way back down I asked the men where water and shelter was - they pointed to a very small shelter - totally unsuitable for the number of donkeys. I have been looking up Santorini Donkeys on the internet and it seems there is a big uproar about it - I'm also going to write to Royal Carribean - theycannot be seen to be promoting this it is barbaric
Other than that - Santorini was beautiful!
Corfu was next - very nice, very very hot!!!!
Phew that is it - lots of holiday pressies for all you that made it through that!!! - Ooooo and I love French Martinis and the bar tender in the piano bar made me a Cucmber Martini and it was delicious
- and hubby bought me a beautiful Topaz ring - my birth stone!
Hope you are all well and thanks for reading!!!!
xxx
Glad you had a good holiday - donkeys excepting - and the pictures are lovely
So now you are back in the real world are you regretting all those martinis - and how are you managing without hot & cold running flunkeys?? Were the boys pleased to see you??
Was regretting the martinis some morning afters lol!!!! Defo couldn't believe it when I had to rustle together a breakfast this morning and my bed hasn't been made! All animals muchos pleased to see me!
Well feeling a bit smug as I have managed to get Nixon out for a hack - he didn't want to go anywhere today and was being v naughty one of the others was going out so we went with her and he was a good boy just tootling along even when hers was waggling her legs around and jumping up and down on the spot!! I did however try out my new bargain jacket from fleabay as it has zip up pockets and as I was going on my own originally I needed my phone - I am pleased to report it is definatley wind proof and I'm sure its waterproof although I didn't get to try that - but it more than kept me warm!! I think I have got heatstroke.............
Anyway was just having some lunch before riding the coblet and its raining....
Well done you for getting out on your hack! Nice one that the new bargain jacket is a success too!!! I'm just about to head up to the stables for a wee plod on Pads
well after a long debate i decided to go to sj comp and its stayed pretty dry til id finished so thats was brill.
had one stop in first class 2ft3, lil bu*ger
got double clear in next class 2ft6 and came 1st!!! only out of four people though i even got a lil trophy
then had clear in first round of 2ft9 class and one down in jumpoff and came 3rd out of 5 people
also had a call about archie and she might be coming out to have a look tomoz so fingers crossed she calls back.
oh and i had another complete blond moment, now bear in mind i dont normally come first.
anyway went in to get rosette etc and said to girl already in there, coz i was wondering which side of her to go, i said 'did you come first?'
she replied saying 'no you did!'
i was so mortified i meant to say where did you come, doh! so she either thinks what a bi*ch rubbing my nose in it or thinks i just didnt hear where i came.
