Had a long day at work - only got back at 6.30 and decided to ride straight away as I knew once I sat down it would be game over!! Got really frustrated in the school - just couldn't get my canter right and poor Nixon was even more confused!!

Well I rode Nixon in the school and apparently was speaking Russian as I just couldn't get my canter right!! Stopped 'cos I was getting really frustrated and I know it was me that was doing something wrong but couldn't work out what!! Anyway have a lesson tomorrow so should be able to sort it out then!

Inca has been going really well so an really pleased with her!!

Argh i had a session like that the other day , it was awful. I ended up trotting around for 20 minutes then getting so annoyed with myself , it wasn't fair on Darce etc so i went out for a hack instead haha.
And his toes have just chipped away so that now when i pick his feet out i can see light shining through all sides. I'm amazed his shoes have stayed on . Bit annoyed though because its only been 4 weeks , ah well

And GP is in need of flocking, and then the infinite dressage saddle is on its way. Ba-daaa!!

I've had the same problem with feet splitting and brittle! I bought some of these biotin tablets and fed two a day and they do seem to be improving them.

Actually, I was going to post to ask what others could recommend

I just couldn't get it together tonight at all so called it a night as it wasn't fair on Nixon. I left him on the strip along their paddocks which has all the long grass for a munch while I put his tack etc away and then tootled out to put him to bed - he saw me and then spent the next 5 mins galloping up and down the field with the dock of his tail vertical and snorting like a dragon!!!

I feed mine Happy Hoof year round so they both get biotin and Inca has Formula 4 Feet too. Nixons are definately better for having biotin - I have had him 9 months now and they have improved loads - even by the shoes theres is hardly any chipping etc where old clenches were - farrier is well pleased with them. Have been putting Hoof Moist on every 3/4 days to stop them drying out in this heat - seems to be doing the trick for them both. Would also use cornucresine but thought I would give the Hoof moist a try as I just wanted the extra moisture if that makes sense?
 
I'm thinking of getting him some Hoof Moistouriser , however you spell it! My friend has a tub and it's sorted his hooves out a treat

Bit of a fath , but i'm resorting atm to scrubbing his feet with water to try and keep the moist etc, I've failed!
 
Thanks, some great suggestions. I think I'm going to try some formula 4 feet.

Would feed Happy hoof but don't all eat it, although I suppose I could!!! Sorry talking to myself again!!

Aah! This could be it. Darcys feet have usually been good having been fed Happy Hoof. But since he's been out, he's not been getting it . And its since then he's feet have gone bleh.

Aaah! I see the light!
 
Actually D_L, I've just realised they used to get Happy Hoof too!!! Now on Hi-Fi lite!

Think it's back to the Happy Hoof, and the ones that don't eat it will have to polish the Hi-Fi off!!! Fussy so and so's!

My farrier was here yesterday and said that both Inca and Nixons feet are the best he has seen them - I was really pleased as it means the effort (and expense!) has paid off!!

Must say I have always used cornucresine in the past and was just using up a pot of Hoof Moist that my sister had and I have to say I quite like it! I have the natural one which with greys is obviously a bonus as cornucresine can get every where!!

Haha, well the one I've got coming to be fitted on Wednesday is a Wintec Isabelle , I've heard quite a few things about it and also some bad..haha, but i'm going to go with the good route.
