The weird thing about ours is, they are starting to get their winter coats through, all be it slowly, then the sun comes out and they start moulting!!!!

I think it's the summer coat coming out, can someone tell me if I'm on the right track here?
grin.gif

Ok today I learnt: You clip from about End of September to January (summer coat starts then) from now till November every 4-5 weeks unless on a hunting yard which is every fortnight.. then it slows down a bit. The reason you stop in January as the undercoat of their summer coat starts and you don't want to chop that off

Other than that I'm clipping the Big Gal I think

Specially as I did some today and it was good fun!

Haha yeah that was the other thing, they said anything thats got a bit of cob generally can be clipped more, and also some eventers clip all year round (weird)

And I'll be fine clipping!

Hope that helps S_V btw

Dont panic that is not his stable door.

Actually he does like food enough that he would probably be prepared to squeeze himself in if needed.

Oh Gawd spellings about to go dwon the pan the kitly thing is back. She sits behind my screen and swipes my fingers as I type. Apparently its fun. Darent look around the screen to tell her off as she swipes my face as well!!

Don't have rubber matting S_V, are you thinking of getting some?
grin.gif

Flibble - he certainly is looking chunkier and a lot better

September weekend up here so off Friday, Monday - going to our house on Mul
smile.gif

I have two mats in Pads bed as he is a big messy burger so was thinking of matting the front of his stale for when he is off the fields in winter. Also, thiking of matting the old boys stable for comfort but still having a snuggly bed - any thoughts?

As I said I don't have rubber matting, but have looked at it in the past. I think it can work very well, and can cut down on the amount of bedding you have to put in.

It seems to make mucking out a bit easier too, the only thing I was unsure of, was lifting the mats to clean, as I think they are pretty heavy
grin.gif

I do agree with the smell, the two I've got do stink and they are heavy to move but then I do wonder if thats cause I don't have the full stable neatly fitted?

Hi everyone, I don't usually join at night but OH is finally getting some sleep on settee so turned tv off and thought I'd come on here as it wont wake him up. I didn't want to say anything to him but I'm absolutely knackered! Been running around after him all night and then I slipped in the kitchen and landed on my bad knee! It was healing and now I've got a big bruise on the other side of my knee cap.

Think I'm gonna head to bed soon

Ouch JS - hope the knee is better soon
grin.gif

Rubber mats would be useless for my mare then, she's absolutely filthy in the stable!!! Clubbing all night long, and slugging back the alcohol until well and truly p**sed!!

Hee hee yeah. All my clothes are old and ruined too but Belle needs rugs for winter so naturally they'll be bought first, then I won't have any money left so my clothes will all stay scabby, but hey, I'd rather live this way than be rich and not have a horse (on't know if OH quite agrees sometimes though

)

Rubber matting at college is thinner, not too bad lifting and doesn't stink unless lifted, other than that though it was ok, didn't seem to save on any bedding though for some!
