They must be. I've seen lots of people eventing in myler combo bits and they have sweet iron mouthpieces (I know other mylers aren't, but the combination bits are all sweet iron). They can help in some Horses, others don't seem to notice. Worth a try though. If your Horse has a dry mouth what can really help is giving them a sugar cube before you get on!!

Thanks

I'll give one a try - mine likes to grind his bit when he's stressed which makes a horrible noise, but I really want him to soften and accept the bit more. Might make him less likely to open his mouth since it will taste nicer XD

I used a happy mouth when I first got the monster - it made a horrible squeakt noise because he used to grind it so much, he has got better though. He's currently in a loose ring french link.

I'll try and find a bit bank somewhere, maybe Gatcombe will have one o_O.

For one that grinds, a really good one to try is the Sprenger WH ultra. It has the revolving wheel in the link. My last Horse used to grind a lot, stopped immediately in one of these.

my horse grinds, I get his teeth done really regularly and use a drop noseband and he has either an eggbut or a fulmer copper french link so that the bit wiggles less than a loose ring and the drop (never tight) discourages the horrible grinding.x

I used to use a sweet iron loose ring french link for mine and he competes BD. However, when I came to replace it I could not find one that was the right thickness for love nor money so I ended up with a KK. He works lovely in both but if you find somewhere with a good selection of sweet iron french links I'd be interested to know! Thanks.
