As part of my dissertation in my second year of college i am looking into affecting factors of sweet itch. i would be very grateful if owners with horses/ponies suffering from sweet itch could take the time to fill this out for me.

Don't know, Have only had him for the past 12ish years

7. Are they stabled or turned out? Turned out with field shelter that has 'fly fringe' on the door, you know the dangly peices of plastics people put on doors?

- Rugging - boett or de meulenkamf (sp
- Stabling- No
- Lotions/salves- sudocrem on sore skin, wound cream/spray on cuts.
- Feed supplements. No
- Fly sprays. Avon skin so soft, on areas the rug can't cover (eg nose, sheath and legs)

5 with out a doupt!

Before I bought a Boett Rug my Mare was very unhappy to be out in the field. The midges bite her belly and head, her chest and tummy are a mass of sores, she will bite holes in herself. I do not find that any sprays deter the midges. She will not eat the fly related feed supplements which smell awful. The Boett means she can live out.

1 or 2 as long as Boett is worn and above regime is followed.

have tried everything, found rugs rub his mane out more, so now he is out naked but I use coopers plus fly spray everyday

- Fly sprays - no more than i do on the other horses without sweet itch.

if she didn't have it on (as last year, before i learnt to smother her with Killitch) - 5

this mare was biting at her tummy, up between her back legs, was being bitten absolutely everywhere, the Hoody works perfectly.
