HI Guys, I bought a Pagony Eczema rug recently after advice from you kind chaps on here, but I am finding that it just slips back all the time and is very tight on the withers.
Any one else with this problem?
Is it just my horse?
Do I perhaps need a smaller rug?
 
on mine,i have adjustments on each shoulder,have you tried altering them?

when i bought mine,i was advised on the phone which size i needed(i think it was the next size up to what i would have bought without speaking to them).it has been a perfect fit on my cob.

i did reposition the clips on the bonnet to customise it a bit.

have you tried using the different loops on the spine to thread the belly-elastic through?perhaps using the ones a bit further back than normal?

Hi Cahill,
I adjusted the shoulder straps up as tight as they would go, but she still came in in in the morning looking like MC Hammer.
I then sewed a strap along the elastic bit at the front of the chest, but it still slips back.
My horse normally wears a 6 foot rug, but the only size they could give me was 6 foot 6.
My rug looks like yours when I fit it at first, but it just slides back and stays back.
I am at a bit of a loss as what to do. Am considering a Boett, but it's so much more expensive and I don't know if it would just act the same way.
 
that's what I was thinking, that's exactly what I was thinking.
hmmm, so I either get the sewing machine out again, or I sell it on e-bay and buy a smaller one.
Only problem is they only seem to do 5' 9" or 6' 3" !!
I guess I would need to try the 5' 9"

I had a Boett rug for my gelding. It was very good, but he is deep with mutton withers and the rug was too tight here. So I cut the seam and put extra fabric in to make it bigger. It worked.

Now he doesn't need a rug at all. A combination of massage where the horse gets sweet itch, and Pig Oil (which we still use now - Wynnstay Farmers Oswestry sells it) has meant he can go out 24/7 rugless.

If your horse is really bad, the National Sweet Itch Helpline people near Mold, North Wales are doing injections as a pilot test against this stressful condition.

i`m sure you would get a good price for it on there.i have watched a couple of fly sheets lately and they have gone for nearly the price of brand new!
 
Mine slips back and makes his shoulders bald. This was after it got old and stretched, have to admit I've gone back to a different make which is kinder to the coat and doesn't slip and fall down.
