My new one gets terrible sweet itch throughout the summer months and I want to get on top of it as early as possible this year.

My vet has suggested Cavalesse. Does anyone use it? What are your thoughts/opinions on it?

Also what hints and tips can we share to keep our Horses as itch free as possible this summer?
:)

Global Herbs Skratchplus - if you can get your horse to eat it is amazing stuff. I use it with a SI rug and he's gone from bald patches to an actual full mane - and he has crappy brittle appy hair so that's no easy feat.

Cavalesse contains Vit D - the same as Brewers Yeast (which doesnt make the blindest bit of difference with my horse)

If you can afford one get a Boette rug at it stops the midge getting to the horse ... therefore no itching . Camrosa cream is excellent . Brewers Yeast is apprntly very good added to feed or Marmite . Other design rugs are good as long as your horse doesnt get bitten underneath, if your horse gets bitten underneath then you'll need to cover it . Anything that has Neem oil in it ( proven in Scotland etc) will repel midges . You'll need to work out what works for your horse and you . It can be a hassle but it needs to be done.
