I am about to begin trials on a new equine product which offers a non-toxic, non-leaching, long lasting protection against bacterial contamination to eliminate sweet itch and I wondered if anyone here would be interested in receiving free samples in exchange for their feedback. This product is already used by the military, in hospitals and in the pet industry. If you would be interested then please email me at hampshirehorses@gmail.com
Thank you
Sarah

It's really not the best time of year - most of the midges have gone or soon will have. My itcher is grass related so I need something more systemic but good luck with it.

You need to start your trials next year as the midges are pretty much all gone now, we have a small chap who has always had sweet itch and the only thing that manages it is rugs from early until late in the season. I have a number of friends who have four legged friends with sweet itch too and have long since given up with products to slaver on to give protective layers and have opted for early to late rug ups. I think the problem you may find is that there are a lot of products out there which you can put on as a barrier to the midges. I love the fact that you are interested in trying to offer a relief to horses of this awful condition (I myself suffer from urticaria where you basically itch from the inside out so I know how awful it is from a human perspective) I wish you luck but you do need to look at starting next year for the best results for your trial. x

Thank you for your comments the trials will begin next year but we are trying to establish a database of people willing to trial the product :)

My lad (a highland) gets SI just in one place, along a short length of his crest, which basically means he's constantly trashing his mane. I'll pm you as I've tried pretty much everything else and he won't wear a rug!!

I have a shetland with sweet itch and would def willing to try. Pony is a rescue and v unsure of hosepipe so bathing him is a nightmare and we often have to resort to rugs.
Hope pastures horse rescue may also be interested.
