From the trials I think it was only 50% effective,

one of the liveries spende a fortune for a weekly injecton for her pony and it still rubs like mad

my friend has a vaccination every 6 months, wich covers sweet itch, and worms aswell, that seems quite effectice, let me know if you want me to ask what its called

The results from last years trial was 70% possitive.
You have to actually order the vaccine from the sweet itch society and your vet administrates, think its three injections and then you have to give the horse a capsule every two weeks.
Anyway ive gone a head and bought it now. Josh suffers severley as you probably know so if it improves him a little it would be great.

charlotte it cant possibly cover sweetitch as sweetitch is an alergy not a virus or parasite. the sweetitch centre is the only place you can get the vaccine for sweetitch from (they have the world patent and the only liscene for it) and its 3 injections over 6 weeks and the tablets after that.
the weekly injections are probably steroids to try and control the reaction in the poor horse (my boy was on prednisilone before this vaccine)
