Have the sweet itch sufferers started itching yet?

I was asked tonight if sweet itch season has started... I don't know because I start the de-itch routine in April so my sweet itch sufferer does not itch.

Have they started scrubbing yet?

mine certainly hasnt rubbed at all, I now think he didnt have it in the first place and that the stupid vet we used mistook it for the lice infestation he did have (for over a year I think, poor lad, we didnt think of that because SI was diagnosed). Since treating him with deosect he hasnt shown any signs of itching despite there being loads of midges around.

Yep its started!

Mine can now no longer come in without putting holes in rugs. He is wearing boett & fly rug full time (boett been on since March), but the blighters are presistent and he reacts very badly.

Mine has rubbed a bit, but he is in a boett and avon skin so soft so wouldnt know how bad it is

One of mine only has it mildly but she was rubbing a bit a few nights ago but i've put midge repellant on and its stopped another horse on the yard rubbed so badly that the whole stable has buckled! Has anyone tried Carr day and martin's new kilitch it has benzo benzoate in and if it doesnt work you get your money back! It is to be used before it starts though i think so it may be too late, not sure though!

Mine was fine last weekend, then by thursday the skin on his neck had thickened and by friday it was cut and bleeding

. It seems so early - and its been sunny and he's been rugged at dusk and dawn!

I have major problems now, my poor bopys sheath is dreadful. The wet and heat seems to have sent the midges bananas.

I have tried sudocrem, stop itch, summer fly cream, green oils and now I am on dermobion and going to give him some bute later.

Just back from my Sweet itch pony... legs all cut, cut on his neck and sheath badly cut and rubbed. Put on sudocreme, wound cream, antibacterial spray and banaged one of his legs. Poor baby he was good until now

yep they seem awful this year. My horse has had Boett on for ages. She has elephant looking skin at the top of the inside of her thighs and last 1/4 of her belly. Plus her mane is falling out with all the lotions. used stop itch, sudocrem, killitch, aloe vera and reg baths
