You can do what you want with the pony - there are no rules regarding SI whatsoever. It is just a condition (like mud rash etc) that needs managing not an illness.

If the seet itch bothers her and you, it may be worth looking at your ponies diet, one of ours had sweet itch which cleared up immediately when we stopped all mollsses and refined sugar.

i have tried everything there is. some products are good for treating the rub wounds, some for keeping midges away. but if you need to stop the problem in a hurry ,buy a boet s,itch rug or similar. then you can work on the wounds

YorksG if it cleared up then it isnt sweetitch, sweet itch is an allergy to the bite of midges, no amount of changing feed will make them less allergic.

No rules against competeing sweetitchy ponies, i show my sweetitch lad with success. Just be sensible about it. Get a midge rug like the boette most fly rugs are useless so one designed to keep midges off is best. When at the show keep the rug on him when you arnt competeing and dont compete at dusk as this is when the midges are at thier worst

Hi, I had a welsh D mare with sweet itch. I cut out molases and anything sweet in her diet and her condition improved. Although I must say each year was different. I bourght a boet to send her to stud and it was brilliant. Having the foal I didnt use a boet and she only rubbed alittle on really bad days, she had a full mane and tail by the time I weaned the foal. I did most events with her, mostly showing. No rules to stop you doing anything.. Good luck..
