Is anyone else still using a sweet-itch hoody/rug on theirs? Apparently the forecast for night-time temperatures for the near future are low, with the expectation of frost?

Mine is clipped and goes in at night; and last night I did leave off his sweet-itch hoody, hoping for the best. I did take the precuation of putting some "Killitch" on his mane and neck areas though, just to be safe. He seems OK this morning, no visible signs of itching, but I have seen midges around in the daytime in this recent very mild weather, even though there's been a strong east wind, if you're not actually in the eye of the wind, I have seen midges, so have played safe. Its gone much colder now, dunno if we're having frost yet.

Anyone out there ditched the sweet itch rugs yet? When do you intend to?

My mare is still in her Snuggy sweetitch jobby. I'll review the situation this weekend, she's probably going to be clipped & might need a turnout rug with some filling and it may be too cold for midges by then anyway :)

Having looked after a number of SI ponies over the years I would keep your Boets etc on ALL year round.

All it takes is one sunny morning, even in cold weather, and midges will emerge....then one bite and you are starting the agony all over again.

Temperature has definitely dropped over the last couple of days and I will probably stop over this weekend, now I can safely put a stable rug with a tail flap on when she comes in to stop her tail rubbing. She seems to have pretty well stopped trying to itch her face over the last week, which is normally a good indication for her itching level.
