Sweetitch lotions?

My mare’s sweet itch is driving me mad - I’ve been treating with KillItch which has helped but hasn’t stopped her running completely. I also wash her mane and tail in a soothing tea tree oil shampoo at least once per week which does help. She is wearing a fly rug with a very long tail flap which seems to have helped the tail rubbing but she is still rubbing her mane. I left the fly rug off when it was very hot as she was getting too hot in it which hasn’t helped I don’t think. any suggestions for any other creams that are good?

Have you tried feeding nicotinamide it's vitamin B3 it's meant to help stop the itch I feed it to Louis in the summer it definitely helps, it's the ingredient in cavalesse for sweet itch but I buy 100g from ebay and make my own it's so much cheaper you just dilute it in water and feed 20mls a day.

Biteback. They do a fly repellent and also an itch relief and it worked really well on a friends sweet itch horse.

Switch from the vets. Only thing that's stopped my pair itching, both now live out rug free. Apply once a week to manes and tails

Biteback. And is it a fly rug you’re using? It needs to be a sweetitch rug or the midgies will still get through

I’ve been giving mine herdleader (same ingredient as Cavalesse but cheaper) and so far (touch wood) he’s been fine rugless

Herdleader is vitamin B3 as well I have used it but worked out you can buy it so much cheaper from ebay and just mix it with water yourself.

I use the itch relief it's really good I just slap it on round his sheath and where his got any bites.

Biteback here too, sweet itch pony out rugless at the moment, have had some minor rubbing but nothing like previous years
It's all benzyl benzoate based Sweet relief lotion spray and quicksilver spray topped up every could of days
