Daisy ideally needs a new sweetitch rug. She is currently in a Boett but the neck fastens up behind her ears and has rubbed her mane so she has a bald patch there.

I quite like the looke of the Rambo but have heard good reports about the Snuggy Hoods too.

Which should I go for?

My two are in snuggies - I also have the udder and sheath covers which really do the trick for protecting underneath.

I have slight concerns on the hoods - but I am paranoid and have horses with very long manes, so tend to put them only on when the midges are really bad. Mine live out all summer so I don't have to worry about them rubbing their manes as they are in an electric fenced field.

The hoods did not rub as such, but their manes looked after 2 weeks constant wear of the hoods as though if worn constantly all summer, the hoods might rub a little.

we use the rambo-excellent-as its a light colour have found the horse not to be sweating in it even in this hot weather. it has never rubbed his mane in any places and because you put it over ears it stays up well even when our horse gets his ears out!!but if your horse keeps a fly mask on this would not be a prob-ours doesnt!!just bought a new one-last one lasted two years and obviously its a lot easier to put on than a boett as you dont have to pull over the head

I voted other. We use The DeMeulenkamp on our Shetland, they are fantastic. They are the same as a boett but slightly cheaper, we have used them for 4 years now and the only sign of sweet itch on my shettie is the odd rub on his ear from when he has managed to get his mask off and he was that bad with sweet itch when we got him to that pts was even considered, they are fab.
Demeulenkamp Sweet itch rug.
