Hi, My sister was jumping her mare. At one particular fence her mare failed to pick her front legs up and pushed off the pole with one of her front legs, hitting the pole just above her knee.
She wasn't lame and showed no signs of it effecting her. The next day there was a lump about 5 inches in lengh about 2 inches wide, no heat and no lameness. My sister cold hosed it.
This was roughly eight weeks ago but we noticed yesterday that the lump seems to have increased in size. After trotting up she is still sound. There is no heat but when I bend her knee there is a definite lump that feels hard?
Has anyone elses horse had a similar injury or does anyone know what could have been damaged? I am worried about tendon damage but more worried about damage to her Radius bone.

Is it hard or slightly squidgy? Most probably a synovial swelling These don't usually cause any problems, but you may want to get your vet to check it out.

unlikely to be tendons there, is strange that there's no lameness or heat, most likely is synovium has been damaged and built some scar tissue around the area to heal the s
damage, if its getting bigger though i would def get the vet to look at it as it may be something more sinister
