My horse has been bandaged for the past 5 months due to an injury and I left the bandage off on Saturday, was fine yesterday, but today it's puffed up and weeping red fluid out of his scar line, which isn't covered in hair yet.

Any idea how to wean him off the vet wrap and gamgee? I've got bute that's gone in his feed today to help with inflammation. He isn't lame, tiny bit of heat.

Just want a rough idea of how to wean him off without it swelling up too much.

What does you vet say? I would be concerned that the swelling was putting pressure on the wound site, especially since it is weeping. I would not expect that after 5 months.

Ive spoken to my vet, and he said wrap it, bute, and just keep an eye on it. Ive done all that. My boss with 45+ years experience with horses said puffing up is normal, but to just wean him off them with a few hours unwrapped, then back on. Ill get a picture tomorrow if i can.
