My 15 year old TB lost a bit of weight and topline coming out of winter this year which is a bit unlike him as he is usually on a diet all year round.
I noticed an area on his back over the kidney region that seems swollen on his offside. He isn't bothered if you press it.
He has just come back from being turned away on reasonable grazing for 6 weeks and has lost a bit more weight and the area is even more prominent. I'm unsure whether the weight loss could have been from being turned away and the recent weather as he hates hot weather and has prob spent lots of time just standing in the shade.
Obviously I will consult with the vet but was wondering if anyone had experienced this before.
He is a retired TB that had an unsuccessful kissing spine op so is never ridden so I dont expect him to have any topline as he has been retired for 3 years now. But this lump seems in an odd place and is definitely very visible compared to the other smooth side.
