Swelling in groin after resting

I've noticed a couple of times recently on my, castrated male, dog, when he has been asleep when he first wakes up his groin is swollen around the base of his penis and two hard lumps either side, he almost looks as if his balls are starting to grow back.

The swelling goes down as soon as he moves around, even before he has been out to use the loo.

He was castrated 12 months ago and the vet was happy with the op, he's shown no signs of being a rig so I don't think that is the issue.

I can't find any lumps or swelling under the skin normally.

Just a bit concerned there might be something going on and wondered if anyone else had experienced anything like it?

Perfectly normal -these are the bulbus glandis or knots and not testes.

Odd that it only appears to be happening after a nap, wonder what he is dreaming about...
