Swelling infront of udder

So I have a question... I have a mare who was leased for a while to be crossed with a stud, but the vet said she didn't take so we got her. This vet is known for not being very good so it is possible she missed it. She has swelling infront of her udder and has a sort of sharp u shaped belly. She has a foal on the ground that is 3 now so could the swelling be from that or..? She has been gaining weight like crazy lately but is not filling out in her back and butt..

Fat mares will get that swelling sometimes but can also be a pre-cursor to starting to build an udder in advance of birth.
When was she with the stallion until?
