Noticed an unusual swelling on my horses jaw line tonight. Eating and drinking fine, alert and happy but keeping an eye on her. She has seems to have a swollen salivary (grass) gland on that side as well....any ideas?
I could be completely wrong but is it not linked to the swollen grass gland? Our pony had a similar swelling and it was thought to be as a result of changing field, the swelling was gone within a few days. And I know of another horse who periodically gets swollen grass glands but they always settle down again.
My boys face was swollen tonight too - both sides. His does normally swell springtime. Assuming there's been a flush of grass in the field he's been in last couple of days?
Thanks all for your replies. Yes, it would seem it was just a grass gland down again today. We have had a lot of rain so perhaps there's been a flush of grass- probably not a bad thing
