I'm looking after my sister's TB whilst she is away on holiday. He's had a hard time recently - then had a injury to his hock joint where he managed to pucture it right down to the joint. He had to undergo a general anesthetic to have it flushed out then was on box rest then minimal grazing rest. He is very underweight and is now out in the main field which has loads of grass to try and get some weight back on him ( had ad-lib haylage, 3 feeds a day etc whilst on box/grazing rest). Anyway his other hock (not the one he injured) is now very swollen, i've cold hosed it tonight. On feeling it, it's quite warm and is quite sensitive to touch. I'm going to ring the vet tomorrow to come out but just wondered if anyone has any ideas on what could be causing it ? I'm not sure if it's anything to do with him putting most of his weight on this leg whilst his other leg was injured ????? I'm really hoping he doesn't have to go on further box rest or grazing rest as he really needs to put on some weight. He does not seem lame walking just tender to touch.
