Taking the big guy to a show tomorrow and the nerves are kicking in big time.

I didn't get a chance to give him a jump this week (had planned to yesterday morning but the arena was hired out last minute) and he was a bit of a idiot in his flat lesson this afternoon so I vetoed popping a few fences at the end in favour of working through the issues we were having.
So, a swift kick up the behind would be most appreciated right now.

(A bad lesson usually means a good show, right?)

Yes, that's what they say. You will be fine. I've heard the pros say, If there are no nerves then you should get out of the sport. Distract yourself, get your hair or nails done, have a massage whatever you like. If you have to think about it try to remember the best jump you can think of, the one that made you go YES! Made you feel great and keep replaying it in your head. You KNOW you CAN do it. Go BM Have fun.

Well, I survived with my nerves intact - just...
Jumped Lenny first as I'm a bit more confident on him and because some of the fences looked big for a British Novice. Started off really well but then he took a dislike to fence 4 and I couldn't get him near it so we were eliminated. Pity because he felt great over the first three fences...

Swapped him for Beau and proceeded to nearly have a meltdown in the warmup. Don't know why I bothered with a tail ribbon because it was ignored and the sight of some of the other horses turning themselves inside out wound Beau up, which rattled me... I nearly bottled it and gave up but was persuaded to go back into the warmup once it was a bit quieter.
He felt a bit more controllable so my friend put my number down on the board before I could change my mind about going in.

He was pretty awesome actually - gave everything plenty of height and although he was keen he didn't run away with me. I let him drift a bit too much to the right coming round to number ten and got a bit close so we had that down and ended up with two time faults as well as I took the long way round to the last fence, but overall I'm pleased considering thats only our second BN and the first time I've jumped B away from home in nearly 2.5 years.

So not a spectacularly good day on paper but there were still a few positives. Thanks to everyone who gave me a kick up the backside. :D
i'll hopefully have some pics to show you later on - just waiting on dad sending me the ones he took. :)

Well done. You overcame your nerves and did it, be proud of yourself.

Thanks. It was a close one though - almost let the nerves get the better of me. :redface3: By the end of the second round, I was feeling relaxed enough to try to smile for the pro 'tog as we jumped the last fence :tongue3: so it just goes to show that I was overthinking things and psyching myself out.

Just the one picture from today as dad didn't bring his good camera. This is Beau, my big lad, posing after his round. :smile3:

Beau is lovely! And well done you :)

Sounds like it was a v good day - and ditto what others said about nerves. Always find it odd when people aren't the slightest bit nervous about something, only shows how much you care I think.
