H&HA government spokesman told H&H it had introduced the ban so that authorities could officially control and sanction owners, rather than leaving the matter to equestrian bodies.
Now everybody can watch and complain about bad practice.
Prosecuted riders will face a fine of up to CHF20,000 (£13,325).
Swiss ban refers not only to shows but also to training at home.
YES! A government with balls! Lets hope this pioneering move makes other governments take more interest for the welfare of the horse at the level of training and competition.
BTW Im not against stretching horses in an appropriate manner and lengh of time. Briefly "asking" for a "hyperflextion" is fine, it has a good part to play in stretching exercises.
