Anybody on here that uses Switch do you manage to apply it with any success?
I was given a bottle by my vet at the end of the itchy season last year and struggled to use it without wasting most of it. I’ve started again this spring and am having the same problem - this morning me covered, the floor covered but very little reaching the target!
It’s just too watery so any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I apply it rather slowly to the horse so that it doesn't run off, then (wearing disposable gloves) lightly massage it in to the coat.

It can be messy. I have three horses to treat. I tie them all up in their stables and move from one horse to another without touching stable doors etc, as it's potent stuff.

I also try and make sure that the cat is out of the way, I don't want her to walk over any spills.

Someone recommended an old fairy bottle and using the nozzle to squirt a little and get right in the right areas. Works brilliantly!

Thank you everyone for your replies.
Eventing2022 I tried with a sponge initially but seemed to waste a lot getting soaked up by the sponge - although I may try it again for the inside of the ears.
A syringe or fairy bottle is a great idea for the rest of him.
Tiddlypom I know what you mean about the cat, I have a similar problem with a Jack Russell! Thank you 😊

The formula became much thinner last year. I spread it on a compostable baby wipe otherwise as you say it just ends up on the floor or in your armpit.

I wonder why they changed it, it’s really too thin for easy application.
Do you find it effective for SI? I’m wondering whether to go back to Killitch which is slightly more viscous and much easier to apply and stay put.

I gave feedback about the difficulty using the new formula to Carr, Day and Martin but didn’t receive a response. I think it probably has a something to do with profit. I don’t think I can buy Killitch here. I do think Switch is effective once you get it on the horse but I only use it on ears, sheath and midline generally. He has to wear a hoodie and mask once the midges are out.

Bumping this as I have just bought a bottle of what must be the new less viscous formulation of Switch and it's a nightmare ☹️.

My mare stood like a rock for the application this morning, I applied 10ml very gently to each quadrant as advised, massaged it well in and despite this an hour later it had run down from her neck and quarters to her knees and hocks 😳. 6 hours later and her coat is still very wet where it was applied showing all the areas where it has run - she was dry and clean before.

This didn't used to happen with the old formulation.

I use a rubber glove to apply, I've only been using it since last summer so think I must always have had the thinner version, but my vet did say it's far more effective now than it used to be. I massage it into tail and luckily as I started using it well before midge season both ponies have thick manes this year that seem to soak it up well. I do get the odd dribble coming off tails or down necks but I just rub them in with gloves. It's been a huge game changer for me, two ponies that I've tried every bottle and potions on the market and various rugs including boett are now out naked.

That’s not good, I still have the old formula which is bad enough so I’m not looking forward to when it runs out 😬
