my loan boy has a cut near his fetlock at the back of his leg
it happened on wednesday(i didnt see it until sat his owner saw it.
it wasnt swollen then.
i saw it sat and it was swollen and so i cleaned it up with diluted hibiscrub(he is living out).it doesnt loko deep.
he has been stood on by another horse you can see where the hoof has caught his leg.it doesnt look deep.
his leg is swollen-along the tendon sheathe downt he pastern and up the outer aspect of his leg(like a large wind gall)
it is warm but not tender-i gave it a really good poke too.
now its obviously swollen since wednesday and i have said can the owner please check tomorrow as its in a nasty place(right by the top of the fetlock joint at the back of the leg) and it has got worse(based on their description of the initial wound on wednsday)
he also has some scabs on his lower pasterns like the start of mud fever, so the swelling could possibly be caused by this.
what would you do?wait til tomorrow or call a vet?
i trotted him up and he is sound in walk and trot.
